The 2015’ Las Trancas Vineyard Sauvignon Blanc is Wonderment’s first vintage of this classic white varietal. The wine was pressed whole cluster straight from the vineyard and racked to 50% Stainless Steel Barrel and 50% Neutral Burgundian Oak fermenting in barrel on its lees. The wine was again racked after fermentation and returned to the same percentage of Stainless and Neutral Oak where it rested for 5 months before being bottled on February, 26th 2016. The Las Trancas Sauvignon Blanc shows pear and lemon peel initially with a hint of baked lemon meringue. Its wonderful mouthfeel is followed by vibrant acidity and a touch of stony minerality. We are very excited to share this refreshing and lively wine from the Las Trancas Vineyard in the Oak Knoll District of Napa Valley.
The Wine Advocate #227 – Oct 28th 2016, 87pts “The 2015 Sauvignon Blanc Las Trancas Vineyard comes from Oak Knoll and is all made from the more exotic and perfumed Musqué clone. It is a clean, steely style of Sauvignon with notes of melon, caramelized citrus, especially grapefruit. This is a ripe, rather Bordeaux style of Sauvignon that is medium-bodied, dry and well-made. Drink it over the next 3-4 years.”
Zinfandel Chronicles, November 2017 – 89pts “Straw colored. Nice nose of lemons, tropical fruits, grass and wet stones. Medium body with medium acidity. Crisp and fresh. Green apples, lemons and peach on the palate. The finish is long and tangy. Drink over the next several years.”
Wine Enthusiast, November 2017 Buying Guide, 87pts “This wine offers lively citrus and moderate acidity— a simple dry expression of the variety that refreshes. Stainless-steel fermented, it’s been aged in both stainless and neutral Burgundy oak, adding complexity around the seasonings of lemongrass and ginger. —V.B.
