HARVEST DATE: September 16, 2013

PH: 3.93

ALCOHOL: 15%

AVA: Rockpile

PRODUCTION: 107 Cases

Dark magenta in color.  The Pritchett Peaks Zinfandel exudes a powerful nose of black fruits and sweet spice.  A wonderful fleshy mouthful, stony minerality, a hint of pepper with balanced refreshing acidity and a lingering smooth finish.

*eRobertParker.com #223 – March 2016, 89+pts “… It displays notes of crushed rock and underbrush in a crisp, elegant, cooler style than the Bacigalupi. Black and red currants, crisp acids, and good spice and earth are all present in this wine, which also displays some tannin in the finish. This is likely to get better over the next several years and drink well for at least a decade.”

*Zinfandel Chronicles – Oct 2015, 92pts ” Violet in color. 15% ABV. Black fruits, cocoa powder and spice on the nose. Big and rich with classic texture. Black cherry, blackberry, plums and pepper on the palate. Awesome Claret style Zinfandel. Drink over the next 3-5 years.”

Wonderment’s 3rd vintage from this steep hillside block. This mountain Zinfandel shows crimson and magenta colors in the glass. The nose exhibits the historical black cherry, spice and pepper characteristics this vineyard has shown since our inaugural vintage in 2012. Balanced acidity and long finish complete this wine.

*Zinfandel Chronicles – November 2016, 93pts “Crimson in color…  Pretty nose of brambly black fruits, pepper and baking spices. Big and full bodied with medium acidity. Blackberries, cherries, peach and citrus on the palate. Really unique flavor profile. The finish is long and sweet. Delicious Zinfandel that will benefit with time in the cellar…”

IWR : California Zinfandel – A New Look, June 2017, 91pts “Dark ruby with hints of magenta in color, this Zinfandel block in the Pritchett Peaks Vineyard offers a bright, fruit forward wine exhibiting black cherry and cola on the nose followed by subtle hints of anise and currant. The wine finishes with notes of ripe berries and cedar.”

Wine Spectator – Web Only 2017, 87pts  “Floral raspberry and sassafras aromas lead to ripe, tautly wound flavors of dried cherry and white pepper. Drink now through 2020.”
