Deep Red color with hues of Violet and a nose of bright red fruits, pepper and ripe plum.  The palate is rich with brambly dark fruits and a touch of dark chocolate.  Elegant tannins and balance give way to a long finish.

Connoisseur’s Guide to California Wine, January 2019 – 92pts   “Proving that good Zinfandel can be as complex as it is fruity, Wonderment’s 2014 bottling from the well-regarded Bacigalupi Vineyard is a well-crafted working that is as polished as it is rich with a lovely appointment of creamy oak to its continuous blackberry fruit. At four years of age, it has rounded into fine drinking shape, yet it has a sense of reserve that bodes well for the future and is balanced to reward upwards of another half-decade of cellaring providing that one can resist its considerable present appeals.”

*International Wine Review – Zinfandel Sprecial Report, May 2017 – 90pts “This Old Vine Zinfandel is sourced from a small plot of 60 year-old head-trained vines of the famed Bacigalupi Vineyard. It displays restrained dark fruit aromas of plum. blackcurrant and chocolate. Full-bodied and soft on the attack, it is beautifully balanced with ripe tannins and a persistent finish.”

*Zinfandel Chronicles, November 2016 – 92pts “Blood red in color. 14.5% ABV. Show stopping nose of sweet red fruits, spiced plums and white pepper. Plush and rich with medium acidity. Raspberry, blackberry, plums and pepper on the palate. Slight tannins on a long finish. Give this wine 3-5 years in the cellar. Super Zinfandel…”

*Zinfandel Chronicles – Top10 Zinfandels Tasted in 2017

RobertParker.com – July 31st 2018 – 90+pts “Medium garnet-purple in color, the 2015 Zinfandel Old Vine Bacigalupi Vineyard gives up notes of black forest cake, prunes and raisin cake with hints of Chinese five spice, sandalwood and dried Provence herbs. The decadently rich, full-bodied palate fills the mouth with spice laced dried berry flavors, textured with chewy tannins and finishing just a little warm. Drink thru 2025”

Connoisseur’s Guide to California Wine, January 2018 – 91pts  “Clean and concise with a wealth of very deep Zinfandel fruit running its length, Wonderment’s Bacigalupi bottling is a textbook look at the variety. It is ripe and weighty but has the structure and fine texture that sets it apart from the norm, and it stays on point all the way through to a particularly long finish. It capably proves that ripeness and balance are not mutually exclusive, and it is sure to become more rewarding yet as the years pass.”

Winesofnote.com, November 2017 – 93pts “The color is translucent garnet with a pale pink rim, not inky like many Zins. But that is not an indication of what’s to come. The nose transports you back to grandma’s kitchen when she was baking pies; blackberry, ripe cherry, vanilla with a hint of graphite and eucalyptus. The flavors are bold yet somehow elegant. Ripe fruit up front; blackberry, dark cherry and then a layer of dark chocolate and black tea. Silky tannins. The finish is warming and spicy and lingers ….. forever. Fabulous! It’s hard to believe this wine can come from those old gnarly vines. Give it three hours to decant for your best reward. No need to cellar, it’s imminently drinkable now.”
