The 2014 vintage of Dr. Stan’s Vineyard again shows its old vine Dijon 115 roots. Ruby red in color, the nose reveals a core of red fruits – raspberries, cherry and strawberry dominate with a hint of baking spice that has been prevalent in prior vintages. Well balanced with medium weight on the palate. The wine finishes with lively acidity , length and elegant tannins. As with the 2013 this small production Pinot Noir will continue to improve with age and time in the bottle.
*RobertParker.com #227 – Oct 2016, 89pts “The 2014 Pinot Noir Dr. Stan’s Vineyard is a surprising 30+-year-old Pinot Noir planting of Dijon clone 115. It exhibits soft, strawberry, plum and sweet cherry notes, has a medium-ruby color, a lush, spicy mouthfeel and excellent balance. It is seductive, medium-weight and could easily pass in a blind tasting for a Premier Cru from the Côte de Beaune. Drink it over the next 5-7 years.”
*PinotFile – October 30, 2016, 92pts “Moderately light reddish purple color in the glass. Immensely charming nose with hi-tone aromas of cherry, red berry, red hard candy and sandalwood. Stylistically similar to the Dutton-Campbell bottling with a sleek and elegant demeanor but with better oak integration. The flavors of red cherry and berry are framed by delicate tannins and sound acidity. A red-fruited joy.”
*Zinfandel Chronicles – October 2016, 91pts “Very light red in color. 14.4% ABV. Red fruits, cherry cola and earth on the nose. Light body with medium acidity. Somewhat Burgundian in style. Bing cherries, pomegranate, soil and mushrooms on the palate. The finish is long and spicy. Drink over the next 3-4 years.”
