The second vintage of Dutton-Campbell is light red in color. It has a delightful floral nose of lilacs and violets interlaced with cranberry and strawberry aromatics. A delicious red fruit core is surrounded by notes of baking spices, earth and mushroom. The impressive finish is full of lively acidity and light soft tannins.
*Wine Spectator – December 2015, 91pts “A bold, well-proportioned expression of fruit and wood, from spicy, toasty oak to delicate plum and raspberry, all folding together gracefully. Pleasantly persistent aftertaste. Drink now through 2022.” —J.L.
*eRobertParker.com #223 – March 2016, 90pts “… This Pinot shows more Burgundian forest floor notes along with black and red currants, earth and spice. Medium to full-bodied, rich and nicely textured, this is a beauty from the Russian River to drink over the next 7-8 years.”
Press Democrat North Coast Wine Challenge – April 2016, 94pts “savory style, medium toast, sultry, sexy on the nose, wonderful spice, like walking into a bakery.”
*Zinfandel Chronicles – October 2015, 93pts “Super nose of cranberry, baking spices and earth. Light body with strong acidity. Ethereal and delicate. Strawberry, rhubarb, pomegranate and mineral on the palate. Light in style but the wine picks up weight with time in the glass.”
*PinotFile – November 2015, 90pts “The nose really resonates over time in the glass with hi-tone aromas of cherry and spice. Lighter weighted and quite elegant, with a charming core of lacy cherry fruit and a touch of oak spice. Very supple tannins make for forward drinking.“
